Title:Finishing a Recruiting Year and Looking towards Next
Story:

I am ready to get an end to this recruiting year due to the dismal end that came about! Supposedly we had Ben Martin and Donald in the bag until we threw a big turd in the second half of the Sugar Bowl vs LSU. We have some great offensive recruits again but no really stud lineman / linebackers coming in with this class. Would Martin and Donald satisfied me? I think they would have and they would have shut up all the critics who say that Notre Dame cannot recruit Defensively. I cannot wait to see what Corwin Brown does next year with one year of coaching and a full year of recruiting. I think he is going to be a good coach. Brown knows his stuff and will give us a rock on the Midwest in recruiting wear Minter did nothing. Was Minter the uptight white guy that Taz Wilson was talking about? I think he was... Minter doesn't relate well with teenagers and I would think he would talk down to them, even when coaching. You could tell things were going sour between Minter and Weis during mid season when Weis told him to go to the booth. Did it help? Nope!

Next year will be a year of teaching, coaching, and just plain ole fundamentals as Weis would say. I hope he rips everyone down and builds the team back up next year. Weis needs to tell these kids that they are nothing and the public thinks they will struggle and not be productive next year. Get these kids in a Nasty mood and permeate him in them. These kids need to fight and claw and show they are a top 10 team and will be one for years to come! If Weis can go 8-4 next year, it will be a good year for him and Notre Dame. Recruits will flock to South Bend and maybe just maybe Corwin Brown can recruit some good defensive players. I think the Offense is National Championship Caliber. The defense leaves holes to be filled and a lot to be desired.

Well from what recruits are saying, the 3-4 is what Corwin will be installing. Now this is a good scheme to run in college because it is confusing and rarely anyone runs the 3-4. There are so many schemes that can come off the 3-4. Shifting MLB in and out going from 3-4 to 4-3 to 5-2 easily. Corwin will install a blitzing tough hitting defense and you will see in just one year. Hopefully he can get these kids to have their hands off their hips after just one TD as in the LSU game. The whole Defense looked like they lost the game after 1 TD. No expectations will change moods and make these kids play with a little heart!

I have been reading here and there that Chris Stewart will be the big plug in the 3-4 defense and I can see that but until he is actually moved to defense I will not believe it. You need a big guy who deserves double teams and can make holes in the line with just moving to one side or the other. Laws would need to gain some weight for this position or lose some weight to become a strong side DE. I don't really see any other players who could play this position. I still have ?s on this position! I don't think Trattou would have fit in the 3-4 because he needed to add 30 lbs to his frame to become effective and needed to keep his foot speed even though he runs a 4.7 40. Florida has got a good tough player who wants to party more then study and get a good education. Well JT good luck in the future and I hope you made the right decision. Hey I probably would have done the same as JT if I got interest from the National Champions and had a good visit with a ton of women on campus. Let me rethink that...I have all the time in the world to do that in the future, I would have stuck with Notre Dame. We will know in 4 years if he made the right decision!

Brian Smith, a son of a former alumni, just got a scholarship offer from Notre Dame. Will his childhood favorite be back in contention for this Iowa soft verbal commitment? Only time will tell. He needs to add some girth to his frame to be a Mike Linebacker. I don’t think he is fast enough for the Will or Sam position.

Brandon Walker will deciding this week sometime between Louisville, Notre Dame, or Pitt. I h ear he has a big leg and will give some competition to Ryan Burkhart who is the other scholarship kicker. Also, Walker punts too!
