I feel for Zach Frazer. I was pulling for him to get a chance to start at Quarterback for Notre Dame. I grew up in his hometown of Mechanicsburg, PA and was pulling for him since he was the first QB chosen by Charlie Weis. He had a hugh arm and in high school had a superb junior year. Would Weis have even offered after his senior year? Probably not since he didn't have a wide receiver whom could catch the ball. If it was caught it was a bomb for a touchdown. I thought he would do great things. Then we got Jimmy Clause, the #1 qb out of California in 10 years or so, to commit to Notre Dame. Where is this wiggle room for Zach Frazer? He has none.

Why did Weis go with three instead of a two man race? Sharpley has the experience of riding pine behind the best quarterback at Notre Dame in years. Demetrius Jones has the legs of a Vince Young to get out of jams when he is pressured. And Jimmy Clausen is the chosen one ever since he stepped foot on campus. Zach had nothing better then any of the above three. He didn't show any remarkable change from fall camp to spring camp. He is not suppose too. He is a freshman. Freshman should never start in my opinion. If a freshman starts for your team, your coaches are not doing there job. You should always have someone standing in whom knows the system and is not a freshman. This is why I think Clausen should not even start this year. Make Sharpley happy. Give him every start. Make him have something to be proud of. Don't put everything on Jimmy's Shoulders or Elbow. Mix in Demetrius Jones. Make him the next Randall El or Kordell Stewart. Give him some set plays which he can run and throw the other team off balance. Let Jimmy soak in the whole experience of going to college. Learning the faster game. Don't throw him to the wolves and expect a better football player back.

Will Zach Frazer stay and get a ND degree? NO! Yes, a degree from Notre Dame is probably one of the top Degrees in the country. But if you strive to be an NFL quarterback, sitting on the pine for 4 straight years is not going to help. Go to a smaller school where you can start now. Cincinnati, ECU, and maybe even Indiana would be good fits for Zach. Come back after you graduate and go to Masters School and get it from Notre Dame. Charlie Weis will be with open arms to help you get back since you gave him another scholar ship to put on another DT, LB, or CB.

Is Jimmy Clausen out of the Quarterback race? As I have stated before, I dont care if he had elbow surgery on his throwing arm or not! He should not step foot on the grass/turf this year. It is too soon. Did Luke Skywalker go right after Dark Vader, NO! He was trained by the best, Yoda, or Charlie Weis. Let Jimmy mature one more year and he will be 100% in 2008! I just hope Charlie can keep the Jimmy toy packaged and shelved for just one year! Just One Year!
