| Title: | Walker and Smith - Big Additions |
| Story: | Brandon Walker and Brian Smith were big additions to the ND Recruiting Class of 2007. Walker is a big foot who had actually kicked a ball over the goal post out of the practice facility in Pittsburgh and into the river. Now that is a big foot and we can use that on kickoffs and someone to kick atleast 40 yd fg on a regular basis. Brian Smith is a much need LB and will probably develop into a inside linebacker in the 3-4 of Corwin Brown's Defenese. Brandon Walker was commited to Louisville and waivered due to the fact of the Petrino heading to the Atlanta Falcons after the season. This made Walker rethink his decision due to not being contacted by the Louisville coaching staff for several weeks. Brandon Walker has a big foot and a ND mindset and speaks very well in interviews and is a ND guy. He will try and take the starting kicking job from Burkhart this year and in the future may be a Punter, Field Goal Kicker and kickoff guy. Brian Smith was an Iowa commitment and was not even on the radar until supposedly his father contacted Notre Dame to see if they were interested in his son. Brown looked over tape and extended an offer. The there were reports that Iowa pulled his schollie due to Brian taking an official to Notre Dame in the coming weekend. This then solitified his place as Notre Dame. These two players were not even on the radar early in the season but they both help with the loss of Trattou to Florida. I just have to ask, how does FLA do it?]
